Shalibanda is one of the old suburbs in Hyderabad, India. It is part of the old city of Hyderabad. It is only a kilometer away from Charminar.

There is a famous temple of Bangaru Mysamma here popular during the festival of Bonalu. Apart from this there is an historic temple in the name of Akkanna Maddanna temple.

The yearly bonalu festival falls in the month of July (Aashadh- Hindu Calendar). There is a procession of Bonalu which starts from the famous Shiva Temple - Kashi Vishwanth Mandir, at shalibanda. After having puja of the ghatams by the pujary of the kashivishwanath mandir,these ghatams (mark of mother goddes of nature), are taken in procession all over the shalibanda and kept for a week in various temples.and then a big procession on an elephant culminates the bonalu festival. The Bonalu festival is all about the well health for the peoples, as this forms the climate change.

Shalibanda area has many banks like State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank. This area is also famous for the Suraj Bhan Maternity Hospital, at Kishan Pershad devadi, near Kashi vishwanath mandir. This maternity hospital is run by the government of AP, in the building donated by Suraj Bhan. This hospital serves a lot of population.

Another landmark of this area is , The prime minister of Nizam, Sir Raja Kishan Pershad, used to stay in this area, whose palace is now demolished. There is Kaman near suraj Bhan maternity hospital, in which every year Ganesh Idol is kept for 11 days and puja is conducted.

The choice for shops at Shalibanda is very good.

The popular Hyderabadi restaurant, Pista House is located in this suburb, which is famous for its haleem.[1] Another restaurant Shah Ghouse is also located here. Deccan Paradise Restaurant opened in the same suburb which is known to be one of the best in twin cities for its famous Hyderabadi Biryani
Transport

Lal darwaza is connected by buses run by APSRTC, since a Bus Depot is close by, it is well connected. Buses that run are 89.

The closest MMTS train station is at Uppuguda.
