Gachibowli is a major IT suburb of Hyderabad. It is situated about 5 km away from HITEC City, another IT hub. Both these suburbs lie on the north-west part of Hyderabad city.
Economy
Gachibowli has grown into a software hub for companies operating out of Hyderabad. It is home to some of the top IT companies like the Microsoft IDC (largest development center outside US), Sierra Atlantic , Wipro, Computer Associates, Infosys, Capgemini, Polaris, NVIDIA, CMC Limited, and FactSet. International banking institutions such as the Franklin Templeton Investments, Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), Brigade Corporation and Bank of America have made their home here. The area is growing at a very fast pace with many new structures coming up. Real estate is on a new high. A new IT SEZ by DLF is also coming up in this area. Hospitality has been introduced in this area by Ista group of hotels and Indus Palm hotel. Education and research
Gachibowli is also a center of education and research. Institutions such as Indian Immunologicals Limited, University of Hyderabad, Indian School of Business, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad and Kendriya Vidyalaya-Gachibowli are spread over acres of land. Apart from the IT industry, Gachibowli is also a sports hub. Some of the best stadiums in the city are located here including the Swarnandhra Pradesh Sports Complex The GMC Athletic stadium, and a world class Hockey stadium and an Indoor stadium are located here. The Military World games, World badminton championships were conducted here recently at Gachibowli and many more. A beautiful Golf course with natural rock formations has come up here recently. Gachibowli is well connected by roads to another IT hub, the HITEC city, and also to the rest of the city. APSRTC buses, no 216, 217 connects Gachibowli to Mehdipatnam and Koti, the major city centers. The closest MMTS Train station is at Hafizpet (6km away) and HITEC city (7 km away). The Outer-Ring Road connects Gachibowli to the International airport at Shamshabad. A metro train service is also being planned in Hyderabad, which would provide better connectivity and provide another public transport for commuters. |
